Goalie Tips

3. Properly Tying Toe Laces on your Goalie Pads

Toe Laces have become the norm for securing the front of the goalie pad. That being said, it is very important you know the proper way to tie these laces, to prevent the pads from twisting when on the leg. Here is an illustrated demonstration for you, taking it step-by-step. (Click the images for a bigger view)

1.Place the pad on the floor directly in front of your goalie skate. Straighten out the laces attached, and take one side of the lace in each hand as shown.

2. Next Cris-cross the laces through the front and rear holes on the skate blade and pull the pad tightly to the front of the blade.

3. Bring the laces up over the top of your goalie skate, and tie them tight around your skate in a bow.

4. Here is how it should look from the side of the skate.

5. Then kneel down on the pad, and do the rest of your pad straps up, starting with the heel straps. (The heel straps go through the back hole of your goalie skate as shown here.)
